Le prochain musical d’Andrew Lloyd Webber “Cinderella” remplacera “School of Rock” à partir de septembre 2020, au New London Theatre (rebaptisé Gillian Lynne Theatre depuis le 1er mai 2018). C'est dans ce théâtre que “Cats” du même compositeur est resté à l'affiche 21 ans.
“School of Rock” qui a ouvert le 14 novembre 2016 à Londres, était le premier musical d’Andrew Lloyd Webber présenté au Royaume-Uni après l'échec de “Stephen Ward” fermé au bout de 4 mois.
Basé sur le film produit par Paramount Pictures en 2003, “School of Rock” a ouvert le 6 décembre 2015 au Winter Garden Theatre de Broadway (avant premières à partir du 9 novembre).
L’album du musical est disponible depuis le 4 décembre. Il contient 12 nouvelles chansons composées par A. Lloyd Webber (lyrics de Glenn Slater) ainsi que 3 chansons tirées du film.
Réalisé par Richard Linklater le film avait été unanimement salué par la critique et avait rapporté 130 millions de dollars lors de son exploitation à travers le monde.
